Systems Project Manager

About the role

The Systems Project Manager will manage the day-to-day activities of the project management personnel within the Materials Solutions (MS) Group and assist the applications and equipment sales operations groups to ensure successful completion of their duties. This position oversees all aspects of project management and information flow with internal and external customers.

Key Deliverables

• Manage project management personnel in supporting internal and external customers for successful execution of systems-type project sales from pre-sale through post-sale coordination.
• Assist the applications group with developing key deliverables related to systems project sales.
• Support the sales operations group with order processing, engineering, and production scheduling.
• Manage, foster, and develop relationships with alliance partners.
• Assist with budget management, including reviewing and monitoring actual costs vs. budget for the systems project management group.
• Ensure costs are properly allocated as required.
• Assist the product support group with equipment troubleshooting related to application and warranty evaluation/resolution.
• Collaborate with equipment sales, parts sales, marketing, product management, engineering, and service departments to develop various deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and support to project management personnel as necessary.
• Ensure project management personnel receive all necessary training to perform their duties.
• Communicate project updates and status to dealers, internal and external customers, and alliance partners.
• Work with applications personnel to develop and maintain standards for equipment applications and systems projects.
• Attend trade shows and product demonstrations as required.
• Lead or participate in meetings involving Astec personnel, dealer personnel, and customer personnel for applications reviews and proposal presentations (may be virtual or in-person).
• Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and evaluate product features, options, and operational characteristics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field—engineering or project management preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, applications, or business operations, with at least 5 years in management.
• Excellent understanding of project management, equipment sales, application principles, and customer service.
• Basic knowledge of business, marketing, manufacturing, and operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general office equipment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with management, sales, dealers, customers, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage stressful situations, including problem resolution with customers and dealer personnel.
• Willingness to visit construction, quarry, and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise, and weather; physically able to climb equipment and aggregate stockpiles.

Leadership Expectations

The Systems Project Manager is expected to lead and manage project management personnel in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Travel Requirements

• Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required (±12 weeks per year).
• Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a passport, and financial means to travel (approved expenses will be reimbursed).

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include extensive computer work, sitting or standing, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
