Project Manager
About the role
This role oversees multiple residential scattered site construction projects across several counties in Southwest Virginia and parts of Northern North Carolina. The project manager coordinates all aspects of construction, including scheduling, purchasing, quality control, trade partner relationships, and customer service. The position requires managing approximately 8 to 12 projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of safety, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage 8 to 12 residential scattered site construction projects at the same time, ensuring each project progresses on schedule and within scope.
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for all assigned residential construction projects.
- Create, track, and manage purchase orders to ensure materials and services are available on time and within budget.
- Oversee quality control for all projects, ensuring construction meets or exceeds company standards and applicable codes.
- Coordinate and maintain strong working relationships with trade partners, subcontractors, and vendors to support efficient project delivery.
- Monitor and inspect construction activities, including masonry, concrete, woodwork, piping, fitting, and electrical work, to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Lead and support on-site construction teams and general labor resources to ensure safe and productive work practices.
- Provide responsive and professional customer service to homeowners and clients throughout the construction process.
- Manage and resolve field issues, change requests, and schedule conflicts to keep projects on track.
- Oversee build-on-your-own-lot projects, coordinating site-specific requirements and client expectations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, purchase orders, inspection records, and progress updates.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding project status, milestones, and any potential risks or delays.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in construction, with a focus on field operations and project delivery.
- At least 3 years of experience in residential construction, preferably including custom homes and scattered site projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple residential construction projects simultaneously, typically 8 to 12 at a time.
- Hands-on understanding of residential construction disciplines, including masonry, concrete, woodwork, piping, fitting, and electrical work.
- Experience conducting construction inspections and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain up-to-date and accurate project schedules and purchase orders.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with trade partners, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Commitment to high standards of quality control and customer service in residential construction environments.

Work Environment
This position is primarily onsite at residential construction locations across several counties in Southwest Virginia and parts of Northern North Carolina. The work environment is field-based and involves regular visits to scattered site projects, including active construction areas with masonry, concrete, woodwork, piping, fitting, and electrical activities. The role requires frequent coordination with trade partners, subcontractors, and general labor crews on site. Work hours typically align with standard construction schedules and may require flexibility to address project needs and site conditions. The position offers heavy bonus incentives on each project, contributing to a total compensation package that is designed to be above market value.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $90,000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
