Systems Engineer (Mid - Senior Level)
About the role
G2 Ops supports mission-critical defense and technology initiatives by solving complex operational and engineering challenges. We are seeking a motivated, collaborative Systems Engineer/Model-Based Systems Engineer to support Navy and DoD programs across systems engineering, digital engineering, MBSE, acquisition support, and mission-focused technical analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support systems engineering activities across the lifecycle, including requirements development, architecture, design, integration, test, verification, validation, and sustainment.
- Develop and maintain system and system-of-systems documentation, including specifications, interface control documents, technical reports, configuration baselines, and engineering review materials.
- Apply model-based systems engineering methods to create, refine, and manage model artifacts, requirements, behaviors, structures, interfaces, allocations, and traceability products.
- Support digital engineering and MBSE initiatives for Navy and DoD programs, including model development, model-based analysis, and digital-thread support.
- Partner with data scientists, software engineers, cyber teams, platform integrators, and program managers to align technical solutions with mission needs.
- Support acquisition engineering activities, including technical baseline development, risk assessments, cost/schedule/performance tradeoffs, readiness reviews, and analyses of alternatives.
- Participate in Enterprise Change Requests, configuration management activities, engineering reviews, and technical working groups.
- Produce clear technical and executive-level briefings for government stakeholders, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams.
- Apply data-driven decision tools, modeling environments, and analytical frameworks to support engineering assessments and program decisions.
- Support Navy C4I, platform integration, mission architecture, fleet readiness, interoperability, and certification-related activities as required by the program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of relevant systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, acquisition engineering, or complex system-of-systems experience.
- Experience supporting DoD, Navy, NAVWAR, PEO C4I, or other mission-focused government programs.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements analysis, architecture, integration, verification, validation, risk management, and technical documentation.
- Experience creating technical documentation, briefings, reports, models, or decision-support products for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, cyber, software, integration, platform, program, and customer teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear recommendations.
Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Skills
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, IBM Rhapsody, or similar modeling environments.
- Familiarity with SysML, UML, requirements management, architecture frameworks, or digital engineering practices.
- Experience supporting Navy C4I systems, platform integration, mission architecture, fleet readiness, RMF, cyber, interoperability, or certification activities.
- Experience working with data scientists, analytics teams, modeling teams, or data-driven decision-support tools.
- Microsoft Power Platform experience or PL-900 Certification.
- Knowledge of Navy systems, Navy processes, NAVWAR environments, or classified customer spaces.
Benefits
