Systems Engineer II, Enterprise Systems
The Allen Institute is seeking a Systems Engineer II, Enterprise Systems to join our Admin IT team in Seattle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Windows system administration, experience with Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform, and a customer-focused mindset.
About the role
The Allen Institute is dedicated to advancing scientific research through open science and team science. As a key member of the Enterprise IT Infrastructure Team, you will manage a Windows-based enterprise environment, design and deploy IT infrastructure, and ensure the security and scalability of our services.
Responsibilities
- Manage a Windows-based enterprise environment with over 40 servers supporting over 925 staff members
- Design, deploy, and upgrade IT infrastructure products and services supporting scientific and administrative business operations
- Engage in hardware and software lifecycle management
- Manage patch deployment and troubleshooting on workstations and servers
- Participate in the development of system standards, policies, and procedures
- Manage enterprise cybersecurity software agents and monitoring systems
- Enable single sign-on with multifactor authentication using Azure AD for on-prem and SaaS applications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of degree and experience required
- At least three years of professional Windows system administration experience
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise collaboration and cloud platforms such as Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Practical experience managing production cloud services, with strength in Google Workspace and GCP and familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Familiarity with system management frameworks such as MDT, WSUS, SCCM, and Intune
Preferred
- Five or more years of professional system administration experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Mac administration, including tools such as Jamf Pro, preferred
- One or more years of experience with centralized storage systems such as NetApp
- Knowledge of enterprise backup systems such as Veeam
- Operational automation skills using PowerShell
- Customer-focused mindset

- Occasional local travel to alternate locations such as Allen Institute locations in close proximity
Annualized Salary Range
$112,950 - $139,750 *
* Final salary depends on the required education for the role, experience, level of skills relevant to the role, and work location, where applicable.
