IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER II

About the role

This position provides implementation, configuration, support, and troubleshooting for all hardware, operating systems, applications, and policies related to desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, and kiosk machines in the end-user environment. The role includes supporting and mentoring Systems Engineer I and interfacing with internal and external end-users to maintain computing needs. The incumbent reports to the Manager, Information Services and is part of the local plant Information Services department. The facility operates 24/7, requiring rotational on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and troubleshoot end-user computing devices and applications.
• Support and mentor Systems Engineer I.
• Investigate, configure, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, user/systems access, and application issues.
• Administer ITS user security and operating systems across various platforms.
• Support and administer VOIP systems.
• Provide server support in a virtual environment, including issue investigation and troubleshooting.
• Investigate, document, and resolve help desk service requests using help desk software.
• Handle rotational on-call, after-hours, and weekend support as needed.
• Communicate effectively with plant, mill, corporate personnel, customers, and vendors.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Systems or equivalent (required).
• Minimum of 5+ years of IT experience in an industrial environment (preferred).
• Experience with Windows desktops, desktop application support, and operating systems.
• Familiarity with IBM AS400 operations (a plus).

Skills

• Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for desktops, servers, and network equipment.
• Experience with tools like Wireshark, Fiddler, Linux/DOS utilities, and Windows PowerShell.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and requests.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate and prioritize tasks for efficiency and completeness.

Pay

Starting salary range: $80,000 to $92,000.
