Project/Unit Description
The Test Engineering Division (TEN), part of the Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS), focuses on advancing Test and Evaluation (T&E) methodologies for DoD systems, particularly in Electronic Warfare (EW) and related technologies. TEN develops sophisticated SITL and HITL test systems to simulate realistic electromagnetic environments for open-loop and closed-loop testing, system simulation, and comprehensive data analysis.
Job Purpose
The Systems Engineer oversees and coordinates technical teams on systems projects, ensuring successful design, implementation, operation, and technical management. They ensure all aspects of a system project are considered and address stakeholder needs by developing and documenting technical requirements, leading the design team, overseeing implementation, and managing the system post-deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create product or system definitions and conduct initial requirements analysis
- Contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes
- Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements
- Interface with and work with disparate engineering teams for technical tasking
Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to the test system lifecycle from requirements to delivery and ongoing support
- Develop and present design review materials to customers and internal stakeholders
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with hardware system design, integration, or validation
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Active Secret Clearance
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with prototype and product fabrication
- Experience designing and/or executing hardware tests
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating engineering design artifacts
- Experience with design review materials
- Problem-solving skills
Education and Length of Experience
