Responsibilities

  • Support mission-critical programs in secure government environments
  • Analyze requirements and translate them into actionable solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results
  • Ensure compliance with contract and security standards
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes, efficiency, and performance
  • Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure delivery of production systems compatible with DoDAF, SOA, and other architectures
  • Develop sections of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents
  • Assist with development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components
  • Coordinate resolution of action items from CCB meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based on evaluation of development and operational considerations
  • Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components
  • Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions
  • Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for verification against requirements in a written plan
  • Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analysis
  • Review and provide input to program and contract WBS, work packages, and the IMP
  • Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to configuration between affected groups throughout the life cycle
  • Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements ensuring completeness, correctness, uniqueness, unambiguity, realizability, and verifiability
  • Establish and gain approval of system or component definitions providing a common reference for developers
  • Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services and Security Mechanism Technology
  • Implement comprehensive SOA solutions
  • Implement operational view, technical standards view, and system and services view for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards
  • Review and/or approve system engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, comprehensiveness, and completeness
  • Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository
  • Assess risks to the program, determine probability of occurrence, and quantify consequences of failure per approved risk management plan
  • Plan verification efforts of new and unproven designs early in the development lifecycle to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Prepare timeline analysis diagrams illustrating the flow of time-dependent functions
  • Establish a process to formally and proactively control and manage changes to requirements, ensuring traceability and tracking of open actions
  • Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline over time, updating it as changes are imposed during the lifecycle
  • Support planning and test analysis of the DoD Certification/Accreditation Process and other government C&A processes
  • Support development and review of JCIDS documents (e.g., Initial Capability Document, Capabilities Description Document, IA Strategy)
  • Provide technical direction for development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems
  • Develop scenarios (threads) and an Operational Concept describing interactions between system, user, and environment
  • Conduct quantitative analysis in non-functional system performance areas (e.g., Reliability, Maintainability, Vulnerability, Survivability)
  • Establish and follow formal procedures for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Experience supporting government or DoD programs
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (Security+, CISSP, PMP, AWS, etc.)
  • Agile, cloud, or modernization experience
  • Background in process improvement or analytical services

Pay

The projected salary range for this position is $156,700–$174,100, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and contract requirements.
