Systems Administrator III, Health Systems (Durational 2-3 years ) Pharmacy
About the Role
This position is responsible for system build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of assigned applications, with a focus on developing and supporting safe and high-quality care using the electronic health record (EHR). The role involves in-depth investigation and precise documentation of future-state operational specifications and application functionality, including analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and clinical or technical issues associated with Epic software. The position also develops and documents internal procedures for Epic applications and serves as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff.
Key challenges include analyzing clinical and business operations, prioritizing system changes, implementing updates, and testing new releases. The role requires collaboration across functions to solve business problems, support system stability, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Apply up-to-date subject-matter knowledge to complete work assignments, meet deadlines, and support projects or initiatives while collaborating cross-functionally.

- Drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions while meeting timelines.
- Provide first and second-level support for enterprise systems by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
- Monitor systems to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring stability, availability, and performance.
- Assist technical and project team members in resolving system problems and application-specific issues; escalate risks as needed.
- Plan and perform complex system configuration, including installation, upgrades, or decommissioning of systems.
- Support communications with product users and suppliers to prioritize requirements, resolve problems, and maintain continuous improvement.
- Define and test maintenance and refresh activities for designated systems.
- Assist with application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments.
- Support vendor activities as appropriate and execute performance tuning and optimization.
- Create and review documentation for new and existing system configurations and procedural information.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with Epic or comparable health system software OR minimum two (2) years of scripting or programming experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care, or a related field and minimum three (3) years of experience working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience as a licensed health care practitioner (e.g., nurse, pharmacist, respiratory therapist).
- One (1) year of experience interacting with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
- One (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
- Three (3) years of experience writing documentation or standard operating procedures related to system administration.

Schedule
- Full-time, durational position (approximately 2-3 years).
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Shift: Day (flexible working hours between 09:00 AM and 05:00 AM).
- Workdays: Sunday through Saturday.
- Work setting: Flexible worker location (must align with Kaiser Permanente’s Authorized States policy).
- Travel: Yes, 25% of the time.
Pay
Pay range: $106,000 – $137,170 per year. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
