Job Summary
The Information Systems Department is dedicated to making information quickly and easily available to facilitate health care providers in giving the highest quality care. As a part of the Information Services team, the Systems Administrator supports assigned software systems and server architecture. The Systems Administrator will be assigned to, and expected to maintain and apply his/her knowledge of the following software applications or systems: VMWare Architecture, Windows Servers, Storage arrays as well as ancillary systems. The Systems Administrator completes systems administration duties in the implementation and maintenance of management information systems; to provide technical support for a combination of desktop, server and network hardware, software and peripheral equipment; to upgrade existing hardware and software, to correct reported hardware and/or software problems; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Highly visible lead member of the Information Systems team.
- Leads with humility while putting customer service first.
- Maintains Server Inventory.
- Applies appropriate patching to systems on a monthly and as needed basis.
- Sustains off the shelf software including installing, configuring, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Responsible for the application security process, user setup, role privilege definition, assignment and security permissions and overseeing the installation and/or upgrade of software package releases.
Position Qualifications
- Education/Experience/License and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of three to five years progressive experience in various Information Technology related functions including but not limited to information server standard administration.
- Three years of increasingly responsible computer applications programming and systems analysis experience.
- Demonstrated competency in project management.
- Cerner experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and tasks simultaneously.
- Facilitation and change management skills.
- Additional Skills:
- Ability to communicate in English; both verbally and in writing.
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access expected.
- Efficient use of MHSC help desk application is required.
