Systems Administrator, Advanced

Responsibilities

• Cook up server configuration and administration with multiple parties (SDC, FDOT, and contractors)
• Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades
• Monitor systems and applications to ensure security, availability, and performance
• Establish systems by evaluating network performance issues, including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; and establishing connections and firewalls
• Maintain network and systems performance by performing systems monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoot systems and application problems; escalate problems to vendor
• Build and manage relationships in a matrixed environment
• Find opportunities to refactor solutions to obtain better performance, cost, and efficiency
• Create and manage Azure DevOps projects, git repositories, and pipelines
• Oversee and configure Azure DevOps organizational settings
• Recommend and assist with the building and hosting of complex application solutions
• Understand, deploy, and manage AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or other cloud services
• Support other IT staff, including developers

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 5 - 8 years of professional experience in information systems engineering or a related field
• 3 - 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration
• 3 - 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT Service Automation tools, and batch job services
• 2 - 3 years of experience in the following areas: Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022 IIS Administration, Network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS, Samba/CIFS file sharing, and NTFS permissions
• Strong professional experience in AWS cloud systems
• Strong professional experience in Microsoft Azure and other cloud systems
• Professional experience in the administration of Microsoft software
