About the Role

The Systems Administrator will provide design, maintenance, sustainment, and enhancement support for critical computer systems and network infrastructure in a classified environment. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with applicable information assurance requirements, maintaining 24/7 continuity of operations, and creating and updating relevant system documents. While work hours are primarily normal business hours, occasional support during non-business hours may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, on-site support for operations and maintenance across multiple classification-level environments
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat Linux, CentOS) servers, desktops, and network devices in compliance with NIST 800-53A r4, DISA STIG, and SRG requirements
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, desktops, and network devices in compliance with NIST 800-53A r4, DISA STIG, and SRG requirements
  • Perform system design, hardware/software implementation and integration, and general infrastructure support within a software development environment using commercial, GOTS, and custom tooling
  • Demonstrate experience with information systems deployments in an air-gapped environment
  • Manage user accounts and access control (Active Directory, LDAP, User Access Control) in domain or stand-alone environments
  • Integrate Linux workstations and servers with Windows Active Directory
  • Configure and execute vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus), SCAP/STIG scans (SCC Tool, OpenSCAP, etc.), and remediate findings
  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space
  • Work with log aggregation technologies for collecting and filtering Linux syslog and audit trails
  • Support desktop and server virtualization within VMWare vSphere and EXSI
  • Gain comprehension of new technologies to assist with new requirement implementation efforts

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a System Administrator
  • At least one year of experience as a System Administrator performing patching and configuring systems to be compliant with all applicable STIGs on a classified network
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with numerous cognizant security agencies, customers, and senior management
  • Ability to manage multiple networks in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Basic knowledge of Risk Management Framework requirements and their impact on IT configuration requirements for Windows and Linux systems

Skills

  • Minimum Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • DoD Directive 8570 / 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or a related subject
  • Previous experience working in a classified Collateral environment / SAP / SCI
  • Prior experience as a System Administrator at an organization of similar size and complexity
  • Understanding of network concepts and Type 1 encryption devices, such as TACLANE
  • Understanding of networking concepts and cybersecurity-related tools, including DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), and vulnerability scanners
  • Knowledge of and ability to securely configure network equipment (switches and firewalls)
  • Knowledge and experience with various network administration, monitoring, and security tools (Wireshark, Nessus, Snort, Netcat, and PRTG)
  • Experience with SIEM tools, VMWare, NetApp, and endpoint security tools
  • Familiarity with NISPOM/RMF, DAAPM, JSIG, and NIST/DFARS compliance security controls and their implementation on various OS computer systems
