Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of server, network, storage, virtualization platform, firewall, routing, and backup-related issues across enterprise environments.
- Administer, configure, and support the following systems and technologies:
- Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS)
- Storage Area Network (SAN)
- Physical security systems, including camera, badging, door access, and key management systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS) and supporting infrastructure
- Install, rack, cable, configure, and decommission enterprise servers, network equipment, storage systems, and related infrastructure while adhering to established standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with facilities personnel, contractors, and vendors to support data center power and environmental infrastructure, including:
- Electrical circuits, receptacles, and power whips
- Remote Power Panels (RPP)
- Power Distribution Units (PDU)
- Data center cooling and environmental monitoring systems
- Configure and manage Cisco UCS service profiles, firmware updates, server provisioning, and integration with storage and virtualization platforms.
- Deploy system profiles in UCS and configure SAN connection paths with guidance from senior staff and/or team lead.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SAN connectivity, zoning, and storage presentation to enterprise systems.
- Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities while minimizing operational risk and service disruption.
- Support and maintain building infrastructure systems, including management workstations, monitoring platforms, and integration points with enterprise technologies.
- Coordinate vendor activities related to system installations, maintenance, repairs, warranty support, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Manage hardware lifecycle activities, including asset tracking, inventory management, procurement recommendations, and equipment replacement planning.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance technical documentation, standard operating procedures, system diagrams, rack elevations, and disaster recovery documentation.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, change management procedures, and infrastructure best practices.
- Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for complex infrastructure issues and provide guidance and knowledge transfer to other team members as needed.
- Monitor system health, performance metrics, logs, and alerts; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and availability.
- Respond to critical incidents, outages, and disaster recovery events as required to maintain 24/7 operational support.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of data center operations, enterprise infrastructure, and the reliable delivery of services.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in enterprise systems configuration and support. Substitution for Bachelor's degree: Relevant IT Associate's Degree. OR An Associate's degree and two years of related IT experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement. Substitution of Experience for Education: Related IT experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
