Systems Admin Associate - Server, Storage and Backup _ Division of Information Systems

Job Summary

Performs routine installation, configuration, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of operating system workstations and servers, ensuring operating systems work together, support end-user business requirements, and function properly.

Performs routine evaluation of the capabilities and limitations of new and existing technical tools and systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains integrity of the operating system environment.
• Mainters workstation and server administration setup, testing, maintenance and support.
• Applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes as required.
• Performs data backup and recovery operations.
• Participates in shutdown and reboot of servers as required for system maintenance and emergency response action.
• Maintains and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Recommends and integrates hardware and system software upgrades to optimize system performance.
• Confers with users and performs first-level problem diagnosis and problem resolution related to systems operating environment.
• Maintains continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, security, software applications, and system utilities.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal, customer service, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform routine workstation and server administration setup, testing, maintenance and support.
• Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system hardware and software.
• Ability to monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ability to perform system backup and recovery.
• Ability to prepare reports and maintain records and documentation.
