About the role
The Systems Administrator Associate position is located in Tifton, GA and reports directly to the TVDIL Director. The role involves maintaining and improving local IT systems to align with current minimum standards set by the College of Veterinary Medicine's IT division. Responsibilities include troubleshooting administrative, instructional, research, and laboratory computers and peripherals, serving as the primary point of contact for IT service requests, and collaborating with the CVM and UGA IT teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot administrative, instructional, research, and laboratory computers and peripherals for the TVDIL.
- Act as on-site local administrator and primary point-of-contact for any service requests by TVDIL team members.
- Maintain email listservs at the TVDIL.
- Act as site point of contact for vendor partners to select and maintain service support contracts and assist in on-site and remote troubleshooting and upgrades of laboratory equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with the CVM IT Department team to keep desktop computer images secure and up-to-date.
- Research software, hardware, and related laboratory equipment options as requested and recommend and implement preferred options in line with minimum CVM IT standards to maintain and improve on-site productivity.
- Promote and support the use of UGA tools such as OneDrive, Office365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc., as well as support the acquisition and use of specialized and custom software at the TVDIL.
- Manage incoming client self-generated requests and self-document verbal requests on behalf of TVDIL team members for IT support via the College Help Desk Ticketing system.
- Provide training for the TVDIL team on IT security and other relevant IT subjects.
- Work in conjunction with the CVM IT Department and other UGA campus resources to maintain wired and wireless networks.
- Work in conjunction with the CVM IT Department to manage servers and ensure that server hardware and software meet minimum CVM standards and USG Minimum Security Practices.
- Maintain server backups that meet minimum CVM standard practice.
- Participate in and support new local and UGA system-wide application roll-outs along the totality of the application adoption cycle.
- Seek and present recommendations for process and technology improvements, network configurations, hardware, and software that will benefit the TVDIL and the College.
Requirements
