System Operator Associate

About the role

This position provides assistance to ensure the efficient operation of the transmission system, coordinates operations with various entities, and performs routine and emergency switching/tagging operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a log of events and transactions relative to the operation of the facilities and equipment.
• Monitor system voltages, transformer/line/equipment loadings, and apply corrective action when necessary.
• Receive, record, and maintain logs of operating conditions.
• Operate the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and associated functions.
• Monitor the operation of metering and communication facilities and report malfunctions.
• Notify proper personnel of severe weather conditions.
• Report station entry/exit activity.
• Plan and direct actions to restore equipment and customers to service during emergencies.

Requirements

• Education: Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or high school diploma plus 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in substation operation, protective relaying, or distribution dispatching preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid state driver’s license. Recommended test results from HireVue Dispatcher Worker Virtual Job Tryout.
• Skills: Ability to work under pressure, analyze information, and communicate instructions clearly and concisely.
• Physical Demands: Sedentary work with occasional lifting and standing.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on a twelve-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to report to worksites promptly in response to emergency events.
• Knowledge of safety procedures.
• Ability to effectively and professionally interact with co-workers and customers.

$74,551 - $99,401/yr

Schedule

Twelve-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
