About the role

Provides intermediate computer systems and network support work. Work involves providing technical customer support for agency information technology systems. Work involves computer hardware and software technical support. May train, oversee, or direct the work of others if requested by the manager. Works under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Works a predictable work schedule.
  • Availability to work after hours and/or weekends when work dictates the need for after-hours support and be available during emergency situations to provide customer support.
  • Provides customer service and answers user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware, and the use of systems and software applications.
  • Images computers and adds software to computers.
  • Schedules computer adds/moves/changes and completes the installations.
  • Maintains the network's physical and logical structures, including network connections.
  • Complete additional tasks, projects, or special assignments upon request by manager.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars as required. Some meetings, trainings, and seminars may be held out of headquarters city.

Requirements

  • Two years' experience supporting desktop operating systems in a local or wide area network.
  • Experience providing hands on technical support with customers on computer hardware and software issues.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Computer/technical course completion or trainings completed preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques.
  • Ability to train others on technical issues and/or agency procedures.

Initial Screening Criteria

Two years' experience supporting desktop operating systems in a local or wide area network. Experience providing hands on technical support with customers on computer hardware and software issues. High School diploma or GED is required. Computer/technical course completion or trainings completed preferred.

Additional Information

  • Requires travel approximately 30% of the time within the area of support which includes multiple office sites in the Texas Panhandle. Occasional out-of-town travel with overnight lodging is sometimes required.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend work is sometimes required and may include some holidays when work duties dictate after-hour support for projects such as network equipment upgrades, computer/site moves, natural disasters, and other IT related activities.
  • Must be able to lift and move 30 lbs. of equipment.
  • Candidate will reside in Region 01 and be officed in either Amarillo or Lubbock.
  • Candidates for this position will be subject to a pre-employment security review to determine employment eligibility.
