We seek top talent in technology, finance, accounting, credit, human resources, and administrative functions to join our mission to feed the world.

The Syndications Business Development Officer (BDO) develops and expands senior secured lending opportunities by building strong relationships with originating lenders and strategic partners. This role serves as a trusted advisor to lending institutions, identifying financing opportunities, structuring complex credit solutions, and supporting successful multi-lender transactions. Success is driven by relationship development, influence, and collaboration rather than direct portfolio management.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with lenders to identify borrower financing needs, develop lending strategies, and structure complex credit solutions aligned with borrower objectives and the Bank's lending appetite.
  • Conduct joint borrower meetings and presentations, serving as an advocate for the Bank's syndication capabilities and influencing successful financing outcomes.
  • Review lending opportunities and provide guidance on transaction structure, pricing, covenants, collateral, tenor, and overall market competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with Syndications & Trading, Credit, Capital Markets, Risk Management, Legal, Credit Administration, and other internal stakeholders to advance opportunities through approval and closing.
  • Support the development and execution of loan syndications while identifying opportunities for the Bank to hold overline positions and generate fee income.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of prospective transactions through effective relationship management, CRM documentation, and ongoing communication with lending partners.
  • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, competitive activity, and regulatory developments impacting commercial and agricultural lending.
  • Represent Farm Credit Bank of Texas at industry conferences, customer meetings, and networking events to expand relationships and source new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, transaction updates, pipeline reports, and business development insights to leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across business units to continuously improve syndication processes, relationship management practices, and business development efforts.
  • Promote the Bank's mission, values, and reputation through exceptional professionalism, sound judgment, and ethical business practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Advanced training, professional certification, or a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience in commercial lending, loan syndications, business development, or related financial services roles.
  • Demonstrated experience developing client relationships, structuring complex senior secured lending transactions, and supporting middle-market or larger commercial borrowers.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, financial statement analysis, loan documentation, collateral structures, and syndicated lending practices.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes through relationship development, collaboration, and trusted advisory partnerships.
  • Excellent business development, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel more than 50% of the time throughout the assigned territory to build relationships, support business development, and represent the Bank at customer meetings and industry events.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish credibility, expand professional networks, and develop trusted partnerships.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Reside in Texas or the Southeastern United States, or be willing to relocate, to effectively support the assigned territory and travel requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of commercial lending or loan syndication experience.
  • Experience working within the Farm Credit System or partnering with Farm Credit Associations.
  • Experience using CRM platforms to manage business development activities and lending opportunities.
  • Existing relationships within commercial banking, agricultural finance, or syndicated lending markets.
  • Experience representing an organization at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.

  • 401(k) plan with immediate vesting of a generous employer match and additional employer contribution.
  • Long-term disability and life insurance.
  • Vacation leave, sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Fertility benefit and parental leave plan.
  • Up to two days per year to volunteer in local community organizations, services, or events.
  • Ongoing professional-development opportunities.
