SWPPP Superintendent

About the role

The SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) Superintendent will oversee and implement stormwater management and erosion control measures on construction sites. This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations and company policies to minimize the impact of construction activities on surrounding ecosystems. The SWPPP Superintendent will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other construction personnel to maintain a safe and environmentally compliant job site.

Responsibilities

• Oversight and management of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for construction projects to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
• Ensuring erosion and sediment control measures are properly installed, maintained, and functioning effectively
• Conducting routine site inspections to monitor SWPPP compliance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed
• Preparing and maintaining required documentation, including inspection reports, monitoring data, and records of corrective actions
• Cooking and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies during site inspections and audits
• Supervising and leading crews responsible for installing and maintaining stormwater and erosion control measures
• Training and guiding construction personnel on SWPPP requirements, best practices, and environmental compliance
• Collaborating with project managers and site supervisors to integrate SWPPP measures into the overall construction schedule and operations
• Addressing SWPPP-related issues promptly to prevent environmental impacts and project delays
• Promoting and supporting a strong safety culture by following safety protocols, conducting safety meetings, and participating in safety audits

Requirements

• Experience in stormwater management, erosion control, and implementation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
• Experience leading or supervising SWPPP or civil construction teams
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and SWPPP documents
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to multiple job sites

Qualifications

• Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements applicable to construction projects, including experience with agencies such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), or similar regulatory bodies
• Experience coordinating with local, state, and federal regulators during inspections, audits, and compliance activities, including stormwater management and erosion and sediment control requirements
• Experience supporting construction projects in Texas, Ohio, or other states with comparable environmental and regulatory requirements
• Professional certifications such as Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI), Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), or similar environmental compliance credentials
