Position Summary
A Switchboard Operator is trained to work on clinic and hospital switchboard. Transfers phone calls in an appropriate and timely manner, readily available to help patients within scope of practice. Directs patients to the appropriate area in the department as needed. Immediately notifies advisory nurse of a potential critical patient. Assures all information collected is kept confidential per HIPPA.
Essential Functions
- Answers phones in a welcoming manner.
- Answers basic questions and escalates further questions to the appropriate department.
- Affords assistance with answering patient and staff calls to help on anything needed.
- Escalates patient concerns to the lead or Patient Access Manager
Position Requirements
- A high school graduate is preferred.
- At least one year of general office experience; preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills; required.
- Previous healthcare experience; preferred.
Pay
Pay range from $15.000/hour to $20.603/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience).
