Swimming Instructor

About the role

Special Sports is looking for a Kids Swimming Instructor responsible for safely and effectively teaching children of different ages and skill levels. The main task is to teach children how to swim in a way that is both fun and educational, creating a positive, stimulating learning environment where children feel comfortable and build confidence in their swimming skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming to children of varying ages and skill levels in a safe, engaging, and educational manner.
• Create and maintain a positive, stimulating learning environment.
• Assess student progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Plan and coordinate swimming lessons effectively.
• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of individual learners.
• Cover shifts in case of illness or leave of colleagues.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain teaching materials and swimming techniques clearly.
• Strong observation skills to assess student progress.
• Good organizational skills for lesson planning and coordination.
• Flexibility to adapt to individual learner needs.

Qualifications

• CIOS diploma with swimming education endorsement.
• Certifiable unit ‘Instructor Swimming-ABC’ of the vocational training.
• All-round Swimming pool employee diploma.
• Diploma Swimming Leader A.
• Independent Instructor Elementary Swimming Level 3.
• Instructor 3 or Rescue Brigade certification.
• Instructor Swim ABC certification.
• First Aid/Emergency Response Certificate.
• Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

Experience

• Experience giving swimming lessons to children of different ages and levels, including ABC swimming lessons and skills (or willingness to follow internal training).
• Experience with snorkeling (NRZ) and working with special children is a plus.
• Experience supervising colleagues in training is an advantage.
