Swim Instructor

Description

20+ hours a week of small group and private swim lessons are available. Instruct individuals of all ages in swimming skills according to swimEGR standards to ensure the participants' success.

Essential Job Functions

• Instruct individuals of all ages in skills according to swimEGR standards
• Directly responsible to the Aquatic Supervisor
• Prevent accidents and minimize/eliminate hazardous situations in pool areas
• Respond quickly to all emergency situations using proper procedures/techniques
• Enforce all pool regulations set by the EGR Parks and Recreation Department
• Administer emergency First Aid and/or CPR if certified to any person injured in the pool area and assist Lifeguard(s) in the completion of reports (certified lifeguards only)
• Work all scheduled shifts or secure own substitute
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings, in-services and workshops
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
• Maintain positive relations and rapport with pool patrons
• Complete all necessary paperwork
• Any other duties assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor

Supplemental Information

• Minimum of 1-year experience as an instructor
• Good organizational skills
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others (especially children)
• Preferred certifications include ARC Lifeguarding, First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED
• Ability to perform well in emergency situations
