Description
20+ hours a week of small group and private swim lessons are available. Instruct individuals of all ages in swimming skills according to swimEGR standards to ensure the participants' success.
Essential Job Functions
- Instruct individuals of all ages in skills according to swimEGR standards
- Directly responsible to the Aquatic Supervisor
- Prevent accidents and minimize/eliminate hazardous situations in pool areas
- Respond quickly to all emergency situations using proper procedures/techniques
- Enforce all pool regulations set by the EGR Parks and Recreation Department
- Administer emergency First Aid and/or CPR if certified to any person injured in the pool area and assist Lifeguard(s) in the completion of reports (certified lifeguards only)
- Work all scheduled shifts or secure own substitute
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings, in-services and workshops
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
- Maintain positive relations and rapport with pool patrons
- Complete all necessary paperwork
- Any other duties assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor
Supplemental Information
- Minimum of 1-year experience as an instructor
- Good organizational skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others (especially children)
- Preferred certifications include ARC Lifeguarding, First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED
- Ability to perform well in emergency situations
