Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
- 1 Reference Letter (does not apply to current CCPS staff)
- Current Florida Educator Certification or Athletic Coaching Certification
- Coaches who hold current teaching certification do not need to obtain athletic coaching certification
- Basic Life Support Program (First Aid, CPR and AED)
Certification Details
The Florida Department of Education issues two types of Athletic Coaching Certificates:
- 3-Year Temporary Certificate: Issued ONLY to give a coach the opportunity to complete the requirements for the 5-Year Certificate. It is NOT renewable.
- 5-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate
Who needs it?
- Coaches who are paid a supplement from the school District but DO NOT hold a Temporary or Professional Educator Certificate
- Volunteer Coaches who are employees of the Collier County Public Schools, but do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator’s Certification
