Swahili Interpreter - Richmond, VA

Language Services Associates (LSA) is seeking Swahili interpreters in the Richmond, VA area to join its network of independently contracted interpreters. In this role you will facilitate language communication for the Limited English Proficient (LEP) community across a variety of settings. LSA continuously accepts qualified interpreters for a wide range of assignments and was named a Top Provider and a Top Workplace in 2026.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service
• Adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct, including maintaining strict standards of confidentiality
• Follow all policies and procedures, including professional interpretation protocols and industry‑specific best practices
• Meet clearance requirements as requested by clients
• Report on site to any accepted assignments in a timely manner
• Access to personal or public transport

Qualifications

• Full fluency in both English and Swahili
• Ability to provide a high level of client service
• 1+ year of professional interpreting experience preferred
• Industry‑specific certifications or training preferred (e.g., CMI, CCHI)
