About the role

Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba) is seeking enthusiastic Sushi Chefs to join our dynamic team. As a vital member of our culinary and service team, Sushi Chefs will enhance the dining experience for our guests while gaining valuable career opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Acquaint yourself with our menu, specials, and Japanese cuisine.
  • Learn and perfect sushi techniques under the guidance of skilled Chef teams.
  • Understand proper handling and waste reduction of products.
  • Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and create an amazing experience.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop dishes for our specials page and core menu.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests and other employees.
  • Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives.
  • Maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces.
  • Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs.
  • Work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area.
  • Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors.
  • Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming.
  • Understand and follow directives and communicate effectively with Leadership and coworkers.
