About the role
Alyeska Resort is seeking Sushi Chef professionals to join our culinary team in Girdwood, Alaska. You’ll play an essential role in delivering high-quality sushi and Japanese-inspired dishes to our guests in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh ingredients including meats, seafood, and vegetables.
- Cook and plate dishes to perfection while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Follow recipes to ensure consistency and accommodate dietary requests.
- Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels and maintaining proper food storage.
- Keep the kitchen clean and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of three years’ sushi experience is required.
- Culinary apprenticeship or other formal training preferred.
- Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have or obtain within the introductory period a Food Handlers Card certification.
- Be on your feet for long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Handle heavy kitchen equipment and ingredients (up to 50 lbs+).
- Adapt to seasonal menu changes and special events.
