Survey Pilot II / A&P Mechanic

About the role

The Survey Pilot II / A&P Mechanic role at Bowman involves planning, preparing, and executing aerial photography/data acquisition missions using single-engine and/or multi-engine aircraft. This position also includes assisting with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, both at company headquarters and in the field. The role may also involve working as an Aerial Acquisition Technician (AAT) as needed.

Responsibilities

• Attain imagery and data to meet project specifications efficiently without the need for re-flights or additional production effort due to quality or accuracy deficiencies.
• Assist with aircraft maintenance tasks.
• Conduct thorough pre-flight checks and alert the Director of Maintenance to any irregularities.
• Liaise with ATC, TRACON, military, and special use airspace authorities to secure airspace access.
• Confirm all mission-critical supplies and documents are onboard in collaboration with the Aerial Acquisition Administrator.
• Participate in daily meetings to strategize and determine mission details, including aircraft relocation logistics.
• Operate the aircraft adhering to FAA regulations, Flight Operations Manual, STCs, SOPs, and company policies.
• Assess weather conditions and coordinate with Flight Operations to maximize data acquisition potential.
• Ensure the aircraft is safely secured after the mission, conducting post-flight inspections and necessary equipment adjustments.
• Manage fueling and loading, executing weight and balance calculations to ensure operational safety standards are met.
• Aid the Director of Maintenance in resolving unplanned aircraft maintenance issues encountered while on the road.
• Communicate with on- and off-field maintenance staff as necessary to secure parts and other necessary items to complete maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to general maintenance standards to ensure the safe and effective return to service of company aircraft.
• Complete relevant logbook and other entries to adhere to company and FAA procedures.
• Utilize the Company's multi-service credit card responsibly for fuel, minor repairs, and hangar fees, ensuring all receipts are submitted.
• Diligently maintain personal and aircraft flight logs, as well as approve flight reports to uphold company records.
• Organize travel essentials including rental vehicles, hotels, and airline reservations, submitting detailed and accurate expense reports.
• Confirm the availability and adequacy of maintenance facilities and hangar space at base airports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associates degree in Aviation or related field preferred.
• Valid Pilot’s certificate (Commercial, Instrument, and Multi-Engine), High Performance endorsements.
• Current Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
• Current 1st or 2nd Class Medical certification required.
• CFI or CFI II preferred.
• 500+ flight hours required, 1000+ flight hours; 250+ hours multi-engine as PIC preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License (with safe driving record) and Passport (or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and experience using computers and managing files, including data uploads.
• Cell phone with texting capabilities.
• Personal Credit Card with $3,000 available credit to procure commercial flights, hotel, meals, and rental cars.
