Survey Instrument Man

Duties/Responsibilities

• Aid in field data collection using total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, levels, and data collectors.
• Set up and dismantle surveying instruments and equipment at job sites.
• Take clear and precise field notes, including sketches and descriptions of field conditions.
• Assist with measurements and stakeout activities for boundaries, topographic surveys, utilities, and construction projects.
• Ensure proper care, calibration, and organization of survey tools and equipment.
• Load and unload field vehicles with necessary materials and supplies.
• Operate tools such as sledgehammers, shovels, machetes, and chainsaws.
• Adhere to company and industry safety practices and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate effectively with the survey crew chief and other field personnel to complete assignments efficiently.
• Work in various terrains and weather conditions for extended periods.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior experience operating surveying equipment and using TOPCON Magnet software preferred.
• Skills in field surveying and data collection preferred.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
• Ability to work out of town and adapt to different schedules, including nighttime or third shift work.
• Detail-oriented, quality-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
