Survey Field Technician
Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Survey Field Technician in our Cedar Rapids office. In this role, you’ll spend approximately 90% of your time in the field and 10% in the office, supporting a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform field assignments for land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA/ASCM, topography surveys, and performing routine survey/engineering computations for various project types
- Collect and process field measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects
- Operate survey instruments, such as total stations, data collectors, levels, and GPS equipment, and resolve operation issues
- Research existing survey and engineering records
- Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders
- Maintain company vehicle and company equipment in a clean, professional manner
- Maintain productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, OR equivalent training or experience
- 3+ years of related field experience with data collection, construction staking, and/or knowledge of legal descriptions preferred
- NSPE Certified Survey Technical Level III or LSIT Certification preferred
- Ability to perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable at the Firm's standard rates. A motor vehicle record (MVR) check is a standard condition of employment.
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
