Key Responsibilities
- Perform field surveys using GPS, total, stations, and other surveying equipment.
- Collect and record accurate survey data for various projects.
- Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with all team members, including the Party Crew Chief and contractors/clients to ensure proper data collection and staking.
- Maintain and troubleshoot surveying equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to be on job sites early in the morning, typically 6am or earlier.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in land surveying or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency with GPS, total stations, and data collectors.
- A strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
- An excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- A strong understanding of reading and interpreting survey notes, maps, and construction plans.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Trimble equipment, GPS, total station, and other surveying instruments is a plus.
- The ability to perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites.
- Knowledge of and compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety standards and regulations.
- Adherence to Illinois Department of Labor regulations and federal employment laws, including non-discrimination policies.
