About the role

Surgical Technologist support patient care in the perioperative setting by assisting surgeons and nursing staff before, during and after surgical procedures. Responsibilities

  • Assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment, and supplies.
  • Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
  • Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintain the sterile field.
  • Assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)
  • CORT preferred
  • BLS required
  • One to two years previous OR experience

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
