Surgical Technologist Extern

About the role

The Surgical Technologist Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite. Under the supervision of the Circulating RN, the Surgical Technologist Extern assists the surgical staff in the perioperative process in accordance with the Surgical Technologist Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

Responsibilities

• Delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite.
• Assists the surgical staff in the perioperative process in accordance with the Surgical Technologist Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the Department.
• Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an approved Surgical Technologist program
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Qualifications

• Preferred: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Skills

• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
