Surgery Tech Extern

Responsibilities

• Assist with setting up the operating room
• Ensure equipment and supplies are available and in working order
• Absorb and maintain sterile field
• Hold retractors and pass surgical instruments
• Facilitate case turnover
• Ensure proper instrument and equipment care post procedure
• May provide support when additional staff are needed under direct supervision of a precepting Surgical Technologist

Qualifications

• Skills and competencies necessary to provide care to patients ranging in age from neonate to geriatric
• Customer service skills evidenced by courtesy to customers, introduction by name and job title, and demonstration of honesty, discretion, and confidentiality
• Follows standards of conduct and procedures of hospital and applicable laws and regulations and reports violations through appropriate chain of command
• Reports safety concerns and hazardous conditions in a timely and appropriate manner
