About the role
The Surgical Technologist (ST) functions as an integral member of the operating-room care team at the Ohio State University Surgery Center. The team provides patient-focused care aimed at maximizing outcomes, improving customer service, reducing hospitalization length, and lowering costs. Patients and families experience coordinated care through the integrated skills of all team members.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical scrub-role duties during various surgical procedures.
- Carry out routine unit tasks and provide emergency care measures as needed.
- Assist in meeting patients’ emotional needs.
- Adhere to universal precautions, safe-handling guidelines, and all infection-control standards.
- Ensure safety and security of self, patients, and others; follow special patient-care precautions.
- Maintain a clean and organized perioperative unit.
- Promote a positive attitude among staff, families, and patients while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Perform tasks in a cost-effective manner without compromising care quality.
- Meet hospital continuing-education and certification requirements.
- Uphold the goals and objectives of the OSU Surgery Center.
- Contribute to organizational effectiveness and demonstrate career growth and development.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal Surgical Technology Training Program.
- Current CST or TS-C Certification.
- 0 years of relevant experience required; 0–2 years preferred.
