Part-time, day shift position within the Nursing Support team at Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England.
About the role
Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses. In accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles, acts as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment.
- Transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa.
- Assists with lifting and positioning patients.
- Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
- Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
- Certified CST from NBSTSA.
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (required).
- New requirement as of 10/1/2023: Uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification. Trinity Health Of New England allows one attempt to pass the licensure exam.
- Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
