About the role
Sentara is hiring a Surgical Technologist at Sentara Norfolk General's Operating Room, in Norfolk, Virginia. Sign on Bonus up to $15,000 offered for qualified candidates. Shift: M-F First shift, 7a-7p
The Surgical Technologist ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile.
Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.
Requirements
- Surgical Technologist Licensure required in the state of practice
- Certification/Licensure: Virginia Surgical Technologist License REQUIRED
- NBSTSA/NCCA Surgical Technologist Certification REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification REQUIRED
- Prior Surgical Technologist experience PREFERRED
