Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical procedures with the correct instrumentation, and sterile supplies.
- Absorb with surgeons with gowning and gloving.
- Absorb with draping the patient.
- Pass instrumentation and sutures.
- Maintain a safe and sterile field at all times; Report and correct breaks in sterile technique.
- Absorb with the turnovers; this includes wiping off the furniture, mopping the floor, taking dirty instrumentation to decontaminate and taking linens and garbage to the waste storage room.
- Put away supplies in the OR, ensuring package integrity, product sterility, and overall orderliness of area.
- Absorb in the case picking or assembling instrument sets in central sterile as necessary.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Specialized training of 13 to 24 months; diploma from an accredited Surgical Tech Program.
- Registration with the State of Washington.
- Prefers ST certification and two-year experience in acute care facility as an ST.
- BLS through AHA.
- Must be adaptable and willing to complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Flexible hours, 10-hour shifts, accountable for 4 late within a 6 week period.
- Active physical exertion up to 85% of the time.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment in OR.
- Frequent fingering of instrumentation.
- High visual demand to read paperwork and all supplies labels.
- Must be able to safely maneuver around multiple pieces of equipment in the OR rooms.
- Bending and twisting up to 20% of working shift hours.
- Lifting with a team to move patient about on the stretcher. Weight varies depending on patient.
