Surgical Technologist

About the role

Under the Perioperative leader, assumes responsibility and accountability for assuring quality care as a health care team member within the Perioperative environment. The scope of responsibility includes anticipating, planning for, and responding to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, patient families, coworkers, and physicians.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED. Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified surgical technologist certification; obtain certification within 12 months completion of a degree from an accredited school of surgical technology; provide evidence of employment as a certified surgical technologist prior to July 1, 2009; or be a current valid licensed practitioner providing evidence of employment as a surgical technologist. Certification must be renewed every four years.
• Continuing Education: Completes required 15 CEU credits annually.
• CPR Certification: Maintain current CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Healthcare experience preferred.
