Responsibilities

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Provides nursing care, based on individual patient needs as assessed by the registered nurse.
• Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
• Affords assistance to the circulator in preparing the operating room for an operative procedure.
• Performs proficiently in specialty areas.
• Maintains an organized and clean department.
• Assumes responsibility for proper care of instruments and equipment.
• Cooperates and supports team effort during procedures.
• Prepares the operating room with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

• Vocational/specialized training required.
• Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures.
