Surgical Technician III

About the role

The Retina Institute of Illinois is seeking a SPD Sterile Processing Surgical Technician to support surgeons in their daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and preparation of instruments and tools for surgeons to use in surgery
• Picking cases for Scrub techs and nurses to use with surgeons in operating room
• Returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate location
• Aiding in keeping the Central Sterile area neat and orderly and assisting with stocking
• Effecting handling of health or safety hazards for self and patients
• Reporting any unusual occurrences or incidents accurately to the Nurse Manager or Administrator
• Performing other duties as required

Requirements

• 5-7 years experience
• Maintains current BCLS certification and completion of required annual in-services
• Ability to work in a surgery center environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease under a moderate level of noise
• Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy
• Must be able to organize and set priority for work to be done
• Possesses manual dexterity, mobility, visual acuity, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, attendance, and good interpersonal skills

Qualifications

Must have working knowledge of SPD protocols and regulations.

Skills

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, sterile environment and handle hazardous materials safely.

Pay

Pay Range - $23.00- $28.00/Hr. Commensurate with experience
