Surgical Tech Certified (Cardiac)
Job Description
This position will be specifically for the cardiac team at the Einstein campus. With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Certified Surgical Technician functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. Performs specific tasks to assist the surgical team in ways that values the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health, and is competent to provide care for all patient populations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduate of a surgical technician training program
- Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care
- Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
- Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care
- Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Knowledge of and ability to use industry standards, policies and procedures relevant to function and organization
- Knowledge of the physical environment and full spectrum of activities in developing and maintaining physical facilities
- Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks
- Knowledge of the common types of equipment or devices used in the healthcare industry, and the ability to use these in patient care
- Knowledge of surgical assistance techniques and ability to successfully complete surgical procedures in compliance with applicable health and safety standards
- Knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate policies, procedures and management methods to maximize operating room efficiency and productivity
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- AHA - American Heart Association
- CST - Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
- TSC - Certified Tech in Surgery - National Center for Competency Testing
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
- Activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR may be required
