Surgical Scheduler - Full Time, 8am - 4pm - AMG Prof Orthopedics - Sports Medicine - Morristown

About the role

Responsible for obtaining authorizations for surgical CPT codes, managing physician templates for blocking and rescheduling as needed, and cross-covering with front desk and registration.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with vendor staff to ensure necessary equipment is available for hospital-based procedures.
• Confirms patient’s insurance and obtains prior authorization or communicates prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed.
• Ensures all required documentation and pre-testing is completed, obtained, and reviewed by clinical staff prior to surgery.
• Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
• Completes all pre-procedure phone calls, confirms appointment time and place, and communicates instructions to patient.
• Acts as liaison between patient and physician regarding surgery.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma. 1 to 3 years of prior experience. Prior experience in radiology or surgical scheduling, prior EMR experience, and experience obtaining pre-authorizations with insurance companies preferred.
