About the role
The Surgical Scheduler at Garden State OBGYN in Vorhees, NJ, is responsible for scheduling patients for various procedures and surgeries, ensuring they are consistent with provider orders and medical clearances.
Responsibilities
- Schedules patients for office-based procedures and surgeries within appropriate time/location slots and using the appropriate scheduling codes.
- Schedules necessary diagnostic and imaging tests for patients to be completed prior to procedures/surgeries, ensuring proper medical clearance.
- Determines if appointments are consistent with diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider and communicates any need for prior authorization.
- Provides accurate and detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, arrival times, and other directional information, and responds to patient inquiries.
- Completes informed consent forms with patients for procedures and surgeries, and ensures completion of advance directives, including DNRs, when applicable.
- Reviews discharge instructions with patients and schedules follow-up appointments at the time of procedure/surgery scheduling.
- Interfaces with vendors and hospital staff to ensure necessary equipment and anesthesia groups are on-site, and maintains a cohesive working relationship to provide high-quality care.
- Enters notes and special instructions into the electronic medical record, and confirms appointment times with patients.
- Communicates any changes in scheduled appointments to patients in a timely manner.
- Completes FMLA/Disability paperwork as needed.
- Affords support to other members of the department as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, with preference for surgical scheduling experience.
- Experience in OB/GYN or Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility is highly preferred.
- EMR familiarity and experience required.

Qualifications
