Schedules
- Joins patients for surgery and completes facility paperwork.
- Obtains necessary scheduling, demographic, insurance, and clinical information to schedule, cancel, or reschedule events with minimal call transfers or callbacks.
- Schedules surgeries with physicians and physician office staff using the method designated by the facility.
- Calls designated departments with information for add-on cases if patients are not yet admitted to the hospital and prepares and sends reservations for each case scheduled within established timeframes.
Responsibilities
- Responds to multiple inquiries from telephone, intercom, and direct communication regarding scheduling of surgery and the main operating room suite.
- Maintains hospital schedules through various methods such as calls, faxes, etc.
- Affords assistance with staff orientation as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Maintains and improves skills such as telephone etiquette, typing accuracy/speed, and communications.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to document accurately and concisely.
Education and Experience
- High School Grad or Equiv.
- 3+ years in a healthcare setting.
- 1+ year of technical experience (preferred).
- 1+ Electronic Health Record (EHR) scheduling experience (preferred).
