About the role
The Surgical Room Specialist I functions within the policies and procedures of UVMMC and Peri-Operative Services. This position encompasses both the clinical and technical activities of assisting with patient care, before, during and after surgical procedures to include patient positioning, patient transport, OR equipment preparation and maintenance, inventory control, anesthesia support during intubation, pathological and laboratory specimen handling and participation in quality control initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assists with patient care before, during and after surgical procedures
- Performs patient positioning and patient transport
- Prepares and maintains OR equipment
- Controls inventory in the operating room
- Supports anesthesia during intubation
- Handles pathological and laboratory specimens
- Participates in quality control initiatives
- Maintains a safe and clean physical work environment
Requirements
- Experience: 1 year of patient care experience preferred
Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma or GED
