Surgical Oncology

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage cancer patients through surgical intervention.
• Perform complex surgical procedures to remove tumors and affected tissue.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Perform hospital rounds on inpatients, including surgical floor and intensive care units.
• Provide postoperative care, monitor patient recovery, and manage complications.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with hospital policy.
• Perform history and physical examinations (H&Ps), consults, and write progress notes on inpatients.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and expected outcomes.
• Participate in appropriate tumor boards and research opportunities.
• Communicate patient condition changes to physician colleagues to coordinate care based on best practice.
• Available to answer emergent calls for inpatient and outpatient concerns.

Qualifications

• Special interest and experience in diseases of thyroid, sarcoma, and melanoma.
• Extensive training and skills to perform complex surgical procedures.
• Highly skilled in collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Committed to providing compassionate care to patients and their families.
