Surgical Oncologist- Grand Rapids - MD/DO

About the role

The Surgical Oncologist will play a key role in providing exceptional care to patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans. The role involves conducting and participating in clinical research, educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and providing expert consultation to other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with a partnering team of specialists encompassing 37+ specialty care and hospital-based service lines
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and advanced practice providers to develop individualized treatment plans
• Conduct and participate in clinical research, contributing to the advancement of malignant hematology
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging therapies and clinical trial opportunities for patients
• Educate and mentor medical students, residents
• Develop strong relationships with patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their treatment journey
• Participate in tumor board meetings and provide expert consultation to other healthcare providers

Requirements

• MD/DO degree
• Board certification in Surgical Oncology
• Experience in treating hematologic malignancies
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment

Qualifications

• Medical school degree
• Residency training in Surgical Oncology
• Current license to practice medicine in Michigan
