Summary
Captures and schedules all aspects of surgery including inpatient and outpatient appointments.
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgical appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
- Coordinates with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities, surgeon, staff, and equipment.
- Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and confirm appointments.
- Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
