Responsibilities
- Schedule surgery and pre-authorization for surgical and office procedures
- Post payments, enter charges, and update patient demographics
- Provide quotes for cosmetic procedures
- Track pre-admission testing results to ensure timely receipt according to office protocol
- Manage doctors’ surgery schedules, including coordinating with other doctors’ offices
- Answer phones and triage patient calls based on severity/importance
- Understand HMO, Managed Care, and Third Party regulations as they apply to a specialty practice
- Verify benefits for upcoming surgeries and obtain pre-certifications
- Address all billing inquiries
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of physician practice operations and basic scheduling system management
- One year of Surgical Coordinating experience
- Willingness to go above and beyond with every patient
- Ability to handle details and strong organizational skills
Skills
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Meditech, and Epic (if applicable)
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when circumstances warrant
- Effective communication and tactful interaction with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, and the public
- Flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to function effectively in a team
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Typing (minimum 35 words per minute) and scheduling skills
- Customer service and knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange
- Ability to work in a demanding environment with frequent interruptions
- Willingness to work beyond normal hours when needed
- Excellent telephone demeanor and professional hygiene/grooming habits
- Ability to prioritize workload for efficiency
- Capability to cope with interruptions and adapt flexibly
Pay
Minimum USD $21.98/Hr. – Maximum USD $36.27/Hr.
