We are a unique multi-specialty ophthalmology network with a collaborative culture that differentiates us in the market. We are currently seeking passionate and empathetic Surgical Coordinators to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgeries to be performed in facility; follows procedure for surgery schedule changes (i.e., cancellation, reschedule); considers priorities/emergencies and patient special needs when scheduling surgical procedures
- Captures and tracks all necessary patient information including demographics, H & Ps, and insurance information
- Maintains and reviews the surgery schedule for review by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Clinical Nurse Director
- Prepares patients for surgery by educating them on the procedure, preoperative preparation, and addressing patient needs and concerns
- Collects payment for surgical procedures
- Performs IOL measurements and calculations based on physician lens requirements
- Performs EMR documentation accurately, identifying proper surgery site, procedure, and special needs of the surgeon
- Serves as a work-up technician and performs accurate ophthalmic procedures and testing as needed
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Outgoing personality and a love for interacting with patients daily
- Comfortable providing high-quality service and responding quickly to patient needs
- Proven ability to solve problems under pressure
- A positive, can-do attitude and strong collaboration skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and environments
- Knowledge of ocular pharmacology, including anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics, cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable)
