Surgical Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Surgical Coordinator will be responsible for managing the scheduling, preparation, and coordination of all procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and knowledge of surgical operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate procedures
  • Communicate pre-operative and post-visit instructions to patients
  • Ensure necessary documentation, consents, and insurance details are in order before surgery
  • Assist patients with pre-operative testing and ensure all required tests are completed before surgery
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Prep the procedure/exam room for providers prior to procedure
  • Verify patient insurance and authorization for visit and procedures
  • Avoidance of unnecessary delays in the scheduling process
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including procedural schedules, patient charts, and consent forms
  • Ensure all patient information is kept confidential according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Provide post-visit care instructions and ensure patients are scheduled for follow-up visits as needed
  • Manage inventory levels and order supplies as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a surgical coordinator or medical office administrative role
  • Experience in scheduling, patient coordination, or healthcare administration preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of surgical procedures
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and healthcare software
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position with potential for flexible hours
  • Work will be conducted in a healthcare facility, primarily in an office environment, with occasional visits to service centers
  • Rate: $18-$22
